Ecosystem
Pacific tropical dry forest
The Pacific tropical dry forest is a unique and fascinating ecosystem that dominates the northwestern part of Costa Rica. This distinctive type of forest is adapted to long dry seasons and sheds its leaves during arid times to conserve water, giving it a distinct appearance. Due to these challenging conditions, it represents a remarkable adaptation of life to seasonal changes and provides an essential habitat rich in biodiversity, hosting numerous plant and animal species, most of which can't be found anywhere else in the country.
